Dear Mark Crilley,

I just want to establish that you are totally awesome. You are biggest role
model. I am starting my own comic book series and you showed a good way of
guidelines (I don’t know if said that right) of how to start one. Thanks
for the inspiration

From,
Me

Deven Gilmore says:

Have you done a tutorial on how to color in or paint a comic/manga book? If
not I would really appreciate it. I’m a happy subscriber and I love your
videos and appreciate the hard effort and work you put into making them.
And I love how you’re not boring like a lot of other people instead you
call yourself an idiot (like I would do) or you say something or mess up
what you were saying and then say something stupid or act funny along with
it. Stay strong and hope your manga will get better and more popular! :D

Mohammad Zaidi says:

Dang it Mark, you’ve tempted me into making the light novel (that I’m
currently co-writing) into a manga! I’ll be sure to add “this is for mark
crilley…” If and when I get around to finishing it

DiaryofA WimpyCollegeGirl says:

i’ve got to learn how to draw! :/

Ric Rags says:

Thanks for this video, I am making my first comic and I was making a
million sketched panels and wasn’t sure if I was on the right track. It
helps to see what someone else does. Thanks!

Denietra Douglas says:

Very helpful! Oh by the way have you considered doing any voice acting? I
think your silly voices would be really good for that;)

MrozGoesHD says:

I find comics and such interesting and it seems fun to create comics but
it’s just that I’m not that good at drawing, maybe I just have to try and
try. Awesome tutorial btw! :)

ruby verdaet says:

You’d be a good voice actor, Mark.

Totally Not Simon , says:

Hey Mark,
I’m currently making a short story in school, and I thought “Why do
something everyone has already done?”
So, due to my love of anime and manga, I decided I would draw a manga
I have a Sakura 0.7 pencil, a kneaded eraser, and a set of pretty good
inking pens
However, I can’t decide angles or close-ups of what I should draw
I have tried this process, and every time I get to the good copy stage, I
think “Isn’t this idea better?”
Can you please make a video on how you decide what to draw based off of
your script?
Also, is there a way that makes you draw better?
(Please make this video fast because my short story project is due in a
week)

Inbal Golan says:

wrote and write all your tips down! They are very helpfull! But I don’t use
a PC to coloring. Would u like to make a video about coloring by hand for a

Darwen Cortez says:

This is really interesting. Funny how I took these same steps before I saw
this video. Im actually working on my own manga, have been working on it
for about 3 months. I do hope that one day people will read it and be
entertained. All I have is concept and some scripts but If you’re into
stuff like action, blood, gore, adventure and Magic, then I’m sure you will
like my manga! 😀 I do apply science, physics and logic to this so you can
relate to it and not feel like you’re in a fantasy world, I try to
captivate realism into this, Like in the essence of ” what if this, did
happen?”

icecreamman1023 says:

Thanks Mark with this, i was able to finish my first page and I was
wondering if i can send it to you.

miku hatsune says:

i wana make a mini manga on vampire knight but im having trouble drawing

leo smith says:

Sorry I.commented ealier, anyway this was a cool video,it helped me alot.I
am working on a manga myself and I just couldny seem to make it come
together or incorporate the characters correctly so it makes sense.usually
an event would happen earlier for a reason then id forget it totally and I
would get confused on what would happen next, scratching out my old
plans. And this is irrelevant somewhat but my characters are mostly girls
and cant seem to figure out a good boy character that unique and hasn’t
been done before.I always thought it was because I was a girl but its
probably more.I know it sounds like im just a confused mess but do you have
any tips or ideas to bring some structure?

Jem Jade says:

can you do a tutorial on how to write a script for manga/comics? i dont

you so much Mark!!!

Khmatrix says:

So does it matter to draw the panels of the scenes that you write after? Or
just write down the whole story and then from there just plan on the
panels.

Hey Mark,I love your videos! I recently bought a drawing tablet for a
school project, will it be easier (for a beginer like me) to create my
drawings there instead of using paper and pencil ? :)

Rivalcomics11 says:

Lol old man time lapse! Thanks again Mark!. im actually working on the
first page of my mang as we speak! I DO have a few questions for you. What
are your approaches to paneling actions scenes! For example running ( not
chasing), fight scenes. I’m looking into the kinds of angles I can choose
from and arsenal if you will to make a dynamic and visual interesting but
not confusing page

Professor Robot says:

Hey great video! I’m working on a graphic novel and wanted to know if you
would recommed doing one page at a time start to finish or going through
each step for all the pages? So like, thumbnail each page then go back
and finish pencil every page etc. Thanks again for the great content it’s
really helped me a lot!

Toni McRobberts says:

Oh my… I have the same Bristol Sketchbook with 20 pages too! And thanks
mister, you are encouraging me to make my own manga.

DrEducation50 says:

Hey Mark!
Thanks for the tips! It helped me a lot!
I know this sounds like a really weird request, but I was wondering if you
could give me advice on how to draw a manga-style girl with curly hair. It
doesn’t have to be video, I just wanna know if you know any good ways.
Keep up the great work! I look forward to more videos :)
