You’re a great artist, and I love your work. However, the eyes are a bit
off. It could be an alternative (fan-made) version of Goku, but not the
manga or anime version. (Of course, there are different versions of adult
Goku, with early DBZ Goku being much more fluid and organic than later DBZ
Goku. But this was neither.) I’d make the eyes towards the upper outside
edges curve more, make his pupils smaller, put the marks under the eyes
closer to the bottoms of the eyes, add some feathering off of the eyebrows,
etc.
Dragon Ball Z does this thing like Bleach does where the animation and art
gets considerably better the longer the show goes on. I hate the art and
animation style in the Saiyan Saga and up until the end of the Frieza Saga
and the Android Saga. Of course reaching its peak in the Buu Saga. Even the
style of the Super Saiyan hair becomes more formed as the story progresses.
I’ll just go ahead and say that this drawing of Goku is from the end of
Dragon Ball/early Dragon Ball Z. Good job! :)

Hey Mark. This is a nice vid. I have one question, are you using just a
ordinary 2 HB and or HB pencil or are you using a certain graphic pencil
for all your shading/values? I’m just curious because I know a lot can be
done with a normal graphic pencil and sometimes people undermine that.
I just bought your comic book “Brody’s Ghost” it was very entertaining I’m
going to look for the next one once I get the chance I also love your
tutorials and drawings and your love for detail
Cool drawing, I personaly think this isn’t one of your best drawings and it
might be the reason that goku has a very simple design and this drawing
looks so plain. Anyway great drawing! :)

His right (our left) eye is weird as hell, too big. The rest is pretty cool
though.

But hey, you wanna draw a goofy Goku face, that’s fine with me.
The biggest problem is that mark has a more distinctive style that I can
feel from this. The style in DBZ is very distinct also so it sort of
doesn’t work well.

I don’t know if you’ve drawn Zelda but if you haven’t can you please draw
her? I am such a big fan of your art! I draw all the time. My grandma was
an artist and my mum is really good at drawing. I want to be like them! But
instead I draw manga and cartoons while they draw realistic.
This is awesome! Great job as well, Mark, you drew Goku in a way I didn’t
really think of, step process I mean. Mainly referring to the process of
doing his face. Always glad to see your videos!

DBZ characters are bulky, unlike other characters you have drawn before. I
think you got it right and it’s an excellent example of a different style,
not only the body type, but the facial features as well
