Through making so many videos of my own, I have barely had time to watch
other peoples videos. You are obviously a YouTube legend and I have been
subscribed to you forever, but I have to say that I have a new appreciation
for your teaching and your ability to engage after watching this video. I
watched this video and learned that I have room to grow both as an artist

alright so i’m attempting this an somehow i got my neighbor pregnant, these
steps are not properly explained or was this the desired results, id isnt
over yet, i might have done this exactly as expected, haven’t even found my
pencil yet.
Hey Mark could you do a video on drawing more ‘efficiently’. What happens
quite alot is that I can get a good drawing but it takes me hours to do.
Sometimes I get bored with the picture and there is alot of erasing and
redoing. Looking at professional animators they seem to be able to get
through their drawings in a matter of minutes. Yes some of this will be
practice but I can’t help but feel there are other things I could do. If
you could shed some light on this that would be great. Thanks, great vid
and keep up the great work!

I’m attempting to draw a cougar based on this video. I have a contest at

I’ve followed quite a few of your drawings tutorials and I’m proud to say
that always exceed my expectations thanks to your instructions!! Though I’m
wondering if you could do a video covering your process of studying the
animals you draw? Any tips on how to know where you’ll set up your
guidelines and things like that? Also, how to apply fixative spray
PROPERLY?

Alrighty, I have been looking for a good white paint/gouache for quite a
long time. Meanwhile, I have bought like 3 white gouaches, 2 white paints
in pen containers and a white pencil. The thing is the paints and the
gouaches dry and fade, which is extremely annoying and the white pencil
would just smudge if I draw over my pencil drawing. HELP! Any ideas or
specific brands that make good gouaches? I’m desperate! I draw portraits
with graphites and colored pencils and sometimes I really need a white
highlight here and there!

Hay Mark! This is soooo amazingly realistic! You have inspired me to draw.
I actually wanted to draw when I was around 6-7 years old, but I quickly
gave up since nobody appreciated my drawings. And they said quite negative
things about my drawings. Now almost 14, I took another chance and tried
drawing. I’m not the best artist but I’m learning so much from you. I learn
to never give up and just keep on practicing. Thank you Mark! And never
stop drawing.

+markcrilley Can you please make a video on the different strokes that you
put in during shading? I see that you have used the y pattern and a tree
kinda pattern a lot here. Also saw that the strokes you put have different
directions like slated ‘v’ shapes. It will be helpful if you can show them

This was my first time watching your video. I enjoyed it very much. The
proportion layout was a wonderful first step… getting that right helps
set oneself up for a more successful drawing. I want to draw a Rocky
Mountain Ram, so will take your ideas and use them to layout a Ram. 2014 is
the Asian year of the Ram. Thank you.
